Press release: Tullibardine Launch Châteauneuf-du-Pape Finish

Perthshire-based Highland distillery, Tullibardine, have introduced The Murray
Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cask as the latest expression of their highly coveted Marquess
Collection.

The distillery first introduced a Châteauneuf-du-Pape cask of The Murray back in
2019 which quickly gained cult status and has since been highly sought after by fans
following its speedy sell out.

This Limited Edition Highland single malt, distilled in 2008 and bottled in 2024, enhances the
characteristic Tullibardine style of vanilla, caramel and oaken notes with the richness and
fruity complexity of the prestigious red wine casks.

The Marquess Collection, launched by the distillery in 2016, is a nod to famous historical
figures who bore the Marquess of Tullibardine title in Scotland for centuries, and the rich
history of the Tullibardine region.
The Murray name derives from the 2nd Marquess of Tullibardine, Sir William Murray, who
fought for the Jacobites at the Battle of Sheriffmuir on the Ochil hills above the Tullibardine
distillery.

The range has gained cult status within the whisky community since launch due to the experimental nature of the casks. The Murray has gone through a packaging redesign to coincide with that of the 15yo and the new 18yo. The gift carton is now fully recyclable with a
matt finish and heavy deboss to retain the original design elements.

Mike Elliott, GM at Tullibardine Distillery, said: ‘We have a feeling this cask finish is going to be very popular with historic Tullibardine customers, given the success of the 2019 version. Our liquid stands up well to bold finishes, retaining key characteristics while enriching it with a plethora of complexities, and this finish is no different.’
The Murray Châteauneuf-du-Pape is limited to just 15,720 bottles and is available now in
70cl worldwide with a 46% ABV and RRP of £70.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Dark fruits – blackberries, blackcurrants, plums with a hint of stewed fruits and figs
balance with the classic vanilla, caramel and oaken notes of Tullibardine.
Palate: A subtle spice permeates the fruity cocktail developing on the palate for a
satisfyingly rich dram.
Finish: The slight spice gives way to a raspberry sweetness and an abundance of cream.
